Question by : What would happen if someone mentioned suicidal thoughts to a school social worker?
What would happen to a person if they told a social worker at their school that they had suicidal thoughts and that they cut. I guess the social worker would have to report it, but who would she report it to and what would happen to that person? Ive heard theyd be sent to the hospital and if thats true what happens there. Just curious not about me

Assuming this is under american law, than likely they would have whats called a 5150 hold placed on them. Thats a 72 hour observation in a psyche hospital where they are counseled by a psychiatrist and are determined whether or not they are a danger to self or others, medication may or may not be advised and prescribed.
Otherwise they are usually referred to a therapist under court sanction and expense.
