Silence / Silencio

It’s some days ago, that I really enjoyed watching the moon. I even lost sense of time. I haven’t got a clear reference of how long I was there. I remember that I felt silence. Not only external, but inner silence.
Hace algunos días que disfruté bastante viendo la luna. Incluso perdí la noción del tiempo. No tengo una referencia clara de cuánto estuve ahí. Recuerdo que sentí silencio. No sólo externo, sino silencio interno.
Silence from the past / Silencio del pasado

Lisbon is not a noisy city. But, it may give that impression when one enters this place, these ruins of the Carmo Convent. Suddenly silence is created. What you only hear is one or two birds flying around. All else disappears. And this silence gets inside while walking along the nave.
Even in ruins, one gets peace out of it.
Lisboa no es una ciudad ruidosa. Pero, podría dar esa impresión cuando uno entra en este sitio, estas ruinas del Convento do Carmo. De repente se crea el silencio. Lo único que se llega a oir es uno o dos pájaros volando alrededor. Todo lo demás desaparece. Y este silencio traspasa al interior al caminar por su nave.
Aún en ruinas, uno sale de aquí con paz.

Sintra’s welcome to Silence / Bienvenida de Sintra al Silencio

It was when I arrived to Sintra, that I soon lost my way in the village. I decided to go up some narrow stairs, that seemed to take me in the right direction, … never ending. And in a small open space there appeared this church, spreading silence and peace from its stones, and its special enclave. I looked around, and I noticed that this silence covered all this cozy place.
This was the start of an unforgettable day, full of special moments, … only comparable to a pilgrimage.
Fue cuando llegué a Sintra, que pronto perdí mi camino en el pueblo. Decidí seguir unas estrechas escaleras, que parecían llevarme en la dirección correcta, … sin final. Y en un pequeño espacio abierto apareció esta iglesia, desprendiendo silencio y paz de sus piedras, y su especial enclave. Miré alrededor, y noté que este silencio parecía cubrir todo este acogedor lugar.
Esto fue el comienzo de un día inolvidable, lleno de momentos especiales, … sólo comparables a una peregrinación.

Silence inside / Silencio en el interior

Here inside, I’ve been just a few times. Yet. Here inside, in spite of the noise of visitors and devotees, there is at the same time a silence which is stronger than those other noises. As here in the Pilar, of Zaragoza, so we are in ourselves. What do you look for? Silence, or noise?
Aquí dentro, he estado pocas veces. Aún. Aquí dentro, pese al ruido de visitantes y devotos, hay a la vez un silencio cuyo sonido es más fuerte que cualquiera de esos ruidos. Como en el Pilar, de Zaragoza, así nosotros también, en nuestro interior. ¿Qué buscas? ¿El silencio, o el ruido?
